Our Mission
To document Bangladesh's rich botanical biodiversity through community-powered photography and expert verification — making knowledge freely available to everyone, from a curious child to a working farmer who needs to identify a disease on their crop.

Founder's Note
I believe biodiversity is the quiet foundation everything else in our lives rests on — our food, our climate, our health, our future. That belief has stayed with me since childhood, and it's why I built Plantopedia: not as an official duty, but as a personal effort to help people see and protect the plant life around them. As the founder, I have been thinking about this for quite a long time, and you might find a domain name once I registered as plantopedia.com, but the technical expertise barred me from making it into a reality, which is now possible. So, I took this initiative on my own to build this system of a visual and informative database of all the plants in Bangladesh, with a little team alongside me, BanglaBiota.
Indeed, this has to be a shared effort. If you spot a plant that seems rare, struggling, or out of place, report it through the BioWatch a “Lost & Found” reporting tool. If you know something an entry is missing — a local name, a use, a fact — add it through the wiki. Every sighting and every contribution makes this a little more complete. So, consider this an invitation: explore, report, contribute. That's how we protect what we cannot afford to lose — together.
Species are now at risk of extinction — more than at any prior point in human history, out of an estimated 8 million species on Earth. This is the measured reality that motivates Plantopedia's mission.

Team BanglaBiota
Team BanglaBiota, a non-profit concern, is a small, dedicated group of volunteers, naturalists, and technologists working alongside the founder to build and grow Plantopedia and Zoopedia. Together, we curate community contributions, verify species records with experts, and keep this atlas open and free for everyone who loves the green world of Bangladesh.
